Item # 1688514875; Bidding closed. Sold for $10.50 plus cost of UPS. Seller's Description: You are bidding on two pieces of Rio Grande Southern coal that were picked up at the top of Lizard Head Pass on the RGS grade last summer [2001]. These probably fell out of the tender of one of the RGS's steam locomotives (#20, 41, 74, 455, etc) There is enough coal to fill several HOn3 tenders or one or two On3 tenders (around a handful). Have the ultimate in realism for your highly detailed model, or have a relic from this long abandoned and romanticized railroad. Buyer pays actual shipping. Payment by bank check, personal check, or money order. Hmmmmmm… three bidders, now will it end up on a layout or in a Christmas stocking? |

The details given on today's auction of Enron's London "bonus" model railroad are vague. No manufacturer or scale were listed. As part of their liquidation, the story goes, the model train once used to deliver bonus checks to Enron executives in London (UK) have been auctioned along with the other office and executive suite fixtures (large screen televisions, gyms, tanning equipment, painting, sculpture…). The description of the train set was as follows: "the electric train set once used to deliver bonuses to top-performing executives.…. it includes 58 lengths of track, two steam engines, one diesel locomotive and a rail-mounted hovercraft. Only one feature is missing: the bonus checks. " 3/1/2002 New York Post More news on the Enron trainset from the auction people: "The a special gauge model railway set was used to encourage brokers at Enron's European headquarters, who would fill its carriages with whatever commodity they were buying or selling — such as copper or coal, and in return receive messages and special bonuses." Aaaah, a freight train with a hovercraft for escapes? Now for Lot 5999: "Lot# 5999 Dovebid
Business Auctions What a let down. G gauge… not very undetailed… a SUCCESSFUL Chicago company once ran a scale railroad in their executive board room. Okay, it was not weathered, but the very private layout was beautiful (no reports from the private operating sessions). Still, we doubt this will become a factor one checks before investing (even if it should)… In a related news byte, the now-humorous Enron Code of Ethics Manual has been given a permanent spot in the collection of the Smithsonian in Washington D.C. Smithsonian Collections, Scholarship & Research It's a pity that tome can't be posed on or beside their old train set_ |

Dear Customer:
If you wonder how I can sell timetables for only $1.00, it's because I don't care about making money in this hobby, I just like to meet people and enjoy the friendship of being a railroadiana fan. |
