O
Scale Hall of Fame honorees are nominated and elected by popular vote of the attendees at the annual O Scale National
Convention. Listed below (by year & alphabetically) in the order inducted. The links here may be used to learn
more about these O Scale Pioneers. Always adding information as it is submitted (or dug out of archives), please
email any corrections to osn@foxvalley.net Feel free to argue, but we crosscheck biographical detail against government records, public
record, and hold all new notes for a short time until we have confirmation on new data as well as a chance to publish
the information in our PRINT edition, 48/ft, O Scale News "O Scale Hall of Fame" column and/or "Mailbag."
These comments now published online for the O Scale Hall of Fame honorees have all been previously published in
48/ft, O Scale News between 1970 and January 2002 and are covered by OSN's copyright in this form (including side
comments). The links below will lead you only to a sketch (an outline) of their lives.
Minor Note: While most year's there are 3-5 nominees and a lesser number of these are added to the Hall of Fame
sometimes there are exceptions: 1999,there was no vote at all; 2003, the committee chose their three (3) nominees leaving left
space for one write-in and then rather than accepting the top person to honor added all three of the committee's
choices (vote held this year at banquet no write-in received more votes than the committee's choices). The 2003 Hall of Fame was
also the 10th anniversary of this annual SONC event, and rather than this being mentioned as an "O Scale National
Convention" function the anniversary passed unnoticed and stress was placed on a social/business group,
the O Scale Kings/O Scale Sig which has possibly acquired the O Scale Hall of Fame plaque and wishes to control
this in the future. The original plaque, created by Ginger & Corey Jones in 1993, was not seen at the convention
(and has not been displayed since the mid-1990's). Perhaps this will reappear in the future or someone will create
a new plaque. New pages for honorees will not be added at this time. In 2004, there was no sign of a new plaque,
but the committee created unique certificates for the inductees. |
