Manufacturer/Importer, Quality Craft / Weaver Models 1965 organized with wife Shirley, now owned by Joe Hayter
- starting as a "basement" operation with
wood & white metal kits, their company thrived at a time when many small model railroad manufacturers were
floundering. They added to their product lines first by purchasing other lines (models & paint) and later by
improving production methods (injection-molded plastic). The company quickly outgrew the basement, but was for
many years a closely held family operation. .
- Bob and Shirley Weaver were a great team. Shirley,
did almost everything except attend railroad meets (instead she went to classes on silk screening or studied other
business matters while Bob was at shows) and design trains (she credited Bob as beingthe true model railroader
in the family,). A rare duo, happily married and, according to Shirley in 1989, very happy working together both
at home and the office. Sadly, Shirly passed away before Bob was honored in 1993. Following Shirley's death, Bob
sold the company to his (ex son-in-law) Joe Hayter. Last we heard, Bob was happily retired and remarried. Today,
he is only an occasional consultant at the company which bearx his last name.
